Glen (Edgegrove Furrow)
Glen was the foundation stud dog at
Sgurr. Fully health tested and with great hips 4/3 = 7. He was a full-on dog and
needed very firm but loving handling – we got the KC Good Citizen Dog Gold
Award at first attempt. His nose and drive were second to none but take your
eyes off him for a moment and he was gone. He had a strong field trialling
pedigree of old-fashioned Springers and weighed in at 24 kg without an ounce of
fat. As well as his progeny in the UK he sired Sgurr na Feartaig, the winner of
the Dashhill Bokaal 2013, The Netherlands National Novice Field Trial Champion.
His line continues at Sgurr with Donald’s Cooper (Sgurr Dhomhnuill).
Jodie ( Druimmuir Dancing Queen)
Jodie was our senior girl at Sgurr
and fully health tested before she and Glen produced the first Sgurr litter in
2006. She was a tall, leggy girl and a brilliant mother. She had some strong
lines in her pedigree, such as Edwardiana and Toonarmy, and some more modern,
softer, Rytex dogs. From her mating with Int. FTCh Helmsway Hawk Of Witchwillows
she was the dam of Breagha (Sgurr Carnach) and so granddam to Donald’s Molly
and Ria. By Glen she is dam to Cooper and his litter sister Sgurr na Feartaig.
She lived to a good old age, nearly 14, and the photo shows her a few months
before she died but still enjoying life to the full.
Peggy Sue (Pinemist Angell)
Peggy Sue was the junior girl at Sgurr,
joining us in 2009 at 10 months old. What I did not know when I bought her was
that she had been abused as a pup and how anyone could beat such a willing and
biddable dog I will never know. She became my shadow 24/7 until she died in
2021. Fully health tested, Peggy Sue produced lovely pups, but she much
preferred hunting to puppy duties. With Zane she was the dam of Sgurr Fuarr
Tholl who won the Dashill Bokaal 2014 and the granddam of Donald’s Bailey.
Despite her sad beginning, Peggy Sue had a long and happy life at Sgurr.
